So I made my way to the lair last night for a game with a Tyranid player called Mark, and had a friend join me to have a look at the game system in general.
We picked a board which had a cratered pit like look to it in the center with some fortifications and decided to them the game around that.
Here was the scenario:
The world he Imperial Fists are fighting for is a training world for Neophytes and has come under direct attack by a splinter fleet of the Tyranids. With most of the neophytes now eacuated and most of the armaments of the Fist gone Lysander and a small detachment have arrived to hold the invasion back for as long as possible while the evacuation finishes. To his surprise 2 squads of scouts refuse to leave and insist on fighting to prove their worth to become full battle brothers.
All the Imperial Fists had to do was survive till turn 5, with no Tyranid's in the fortress its self.
All Tyranid units were re-spawning via reserves if wiped out, and the had the left and right long flanks to deploy on.
and decided that the drop pods could drop into the fortress if they were small enough to do so (damn Tyranid's pods)
And finally all Marines inside the fortress were fearless.
So the Tyranid's took first deployment and turn after I failed to get the initiative, but had the tactical advantage of choosing to refused flank one side of the fortress as Mark deployed the majority of his monsters over there and I figured keep one flank locked down and hand the monsters including the flying hive tyrant when they come round.
With to Tervigon's on my left flank backed up with Tyrant Guard and Zoanthropes I decided to refused flank that end and let the other monsters come to me.
On my other flank sat a flying Hive tyrant and 2 Trygons, daunting prospects ahead of me.
Plus 2 drop pods containing Doom of Malantal and a brood of hormagaunts as well geeesh.
In response to the call to battle by Lysander, he was joined by 20 Tactical Marines with 4 Plasma Specialist, 2 Squads of Snipers, an Iron Clad, 2 Vindicators and a Las Cannon Predator and 5 of his own personal Body Guard
The Tactical Marines broke up into smaller squads and manned the walls, the tanks took flanking positions around the fortress and Lysander and Dreadnought Invidious took their positions on the battle barge waiting to deploy.
Daunting prospect holding out till turn 5 but we both agreed that I had the fire power to do so. Even with another friend saying I was F*CKED lol
nyways I need to shoot off so I will write a battle report later on.

And so the weekend approaches
So with the weekend approaching and one final Double shift at work to go through (damn the graveyard shift takes sooooooooo long) I have managed to achieve a total of 0 painting. Which really sucks as I was hoping to have some color on my army for the local Doubles tournament being held at my local club. I have managed to squeeze in some undercoating.
Being an imperial fist army I decided to go with the white base coat which i found hard to get even so I think the best way was to give them a spray and not go with a solid white as i will be building it up with the The Giants Lair,
Now with the tournament in mind, I have my partner who is using a combination of Ravenwing bikes, tactical marines, and Deathwing Knights to back up y Forgemaster, Vindicator, Scouts, and tactical Marines, and attack bike. For obvious Reasons we are meeting up tomorrow nightto review rules special rules and tactics.
On a separate note I have also organised a game with a member of the Lair whose blog inspired me to do this blog myself after reading his and thinking i have the same problem with completing projects is going to provide my first battle report at 2500 points. Now I have my Army List and have tried not to cater it to what I believe my opponent is using to be Orks. We will be both writing battle reports so I will link his when he uploads it. Should be intresting seeing it in the writing of my opponents views.

Now I just wish this week end would hurry up and come.

In the beginning, there is war, a war between paints glues clippers and files
So here we are. I am a former Codex Ork player dating back to 3rd edition. After playing multiple games with the army i have at 6th edition to which my w/l ration was about 60% out side of tournaments (to which I never did enter). My issue with the new rules was thus, it is designed for shooting armies which we all know Orks are not.So i set about reading the history of some of the first founding Legions of Space Marines.
After weeks of reading, and discarding the lesser in my opinion chapters that don't follow the Codex Astartes, I settled for the Imperial Fists. the amount of data on the Fists, is amazing and highly detailed.
So. Having picked my army, and having read their history, one thing is obvious, they excel at siege. Whether is is on the defense or offence. And I wanted this prominent in my army. So I picked up some basics. Vindicators, Predator, some Dreadnoughts, Snipers, a Techmarine, and some Tactical Squads.
Now having assembled everything, I decided to add all this up and the total army cost was 1250 pts, a little short of my local tournaments for singles, so I decided to make it a defensive army and added an aegis defense line and 3 attack bikes (yes yes I know attack bikes aren't exactly defensive but I figured some mobility in my anti tank support is warranted.)
As of the 5th of February I have started this blog, and began the undercoating of my forces, starting with the 600 point doubles tournament which consists of 10 Tactical Marines, 5 Scout Snipers, Tech Marine and Servitor, and a Vindicator.
The Plan from here is to finish spraying and then upload pics of each stage etc. If all goes to plan that is.
